Higher Ground Productions > Spike TV > Pancho Gonzales - The Latino Legend of Tennis (title sequence concept/partial final)

Title: Pancho Gonzales: Latino Legend of Tennis
Date
Summer 2004
Client: Higher Ground Films, Spike TV
Director:
Sney / Jorge Luis Gonzales
Specs: 1x60s title sequence, edit on FCP, graphics in After Effects.

Notes:
This was my roughcut of the title sequence, and the version that made it to the final documentary has some of the same cuts and effects, but with additional material.  The music is a scratch track (‘Guimar’ by AIM, Copyright AIM) and wasn’t used for commercial purposes.

On this same project I also created several animations from still photographs, bringing them to life in the style of the feature film 'The Kid Stays in The Picture'. In some circles this is known as a 'parallax shot'.

This involved separating out people from the background of old photos, filling in the background and then performing 3d pans across the layers to give the impression that the people had 'jumped out' of the photos.

This documentary was commissioned as part of Spike TV's Mexican Independance Day programming. We worked out of North Hollywood.

This piece is a personal favourite, everything just flows.
